Buffers are solution made to resist change in pH of certain solution. A buffer solution is basically composed of a weak conjugate acid-base pair. The presence of a weak conjugate acid and weak conjugate base will resist change in pH to maintain the pH range needed.

One of the most common application of this buffer solution is in pharmacy, where medicine in solution needed to maintain certain pH to assure its efficacy.
