To determinate the formal charge we use this relation: We took the number of valence electrons for each atom(for N is five and for O is six) and to that number we substracted the non binding electrons and half of the binding electrons around that atom. The formula for the general calculation of a formal charge is: FC=N(val. e)N(non binding e)+12(binding e)FC= N(val. \ e^-)-N(non \ binding \ e^-)+\dfrac{1}{2}(binding \ e^-)
