In order to make a regular 44-gon or a square, draw a horizontal line and make a perpendicular line on it. From the point of intersection, mark off the lines with the desired length to obtain a pair of congruent line segments. Then, construct perpendicular lines at the ends of the line segments to make a square apparent.
