While some argue that same-sex classrooms allow teachers to better accommodate to the needs and learning styles of their students, such classrooms reinforce gender stereotypes and leave students ill-prepared for life in the real world.

The counterargument structure is effective here because the issue is one that can be addressed from many sides, and it allows the writer to address sides other than the angle they wish to promote right away.
