Pectoral girdle consist of two bones - clavicle and scapula. Strong blow to the anterior side of the shoulder could easily break the clavicle. If fracture is complete, the affected shoulder will drop.

Another injury that can happen is known as 'shoulder separation'. It is due to dislocated acromiclavicular joint which can lead to rupture of two important shoulder ligaments - acromioclavicular and coracoclavicular ligament. Again, the affected shoulder will drop.
