Do you believe it is ethical or unethical to deceive people about the purposes of research studies?
Solutions
VerifiedDeception of people will never be completely justified.
I believe it's okay if the participants are unaware of the purpose of the study. Because in many experiments, the participants' awareness of the study's purpose can negatively affect the accuracy of the results. However, they must be fully aware, informed and consenting to any negative effects or risks they're exposed to by participating in the experiment.
I think it is unethical to deceive participants in a study. I think people should have the right to know how and why they are being researched. The only way it is ethical is if a person agrees to not know how or why they are going to be researched.
