It was definitely a wrong decision. Although the United Kingdom and the United States voiced their regret, they concentrated their resources and strategies on fighting Hitler rather than ending his homicidal campaign. They planned to bomb railway links leading to the extermination camps, although the camps themselves were not military targets. If they have pushed through with this plan, it could at least hindered the logistics of the genocide.
