Usually, we start off the process with the iron ore, coke, and limestone. We fed those materials into a large furnace that has a cylinder shape. The temperature is increasing with the depth of the cylinder. At the bottom of the cylinder, the temperature can reach 3000°F(1649°C)3000\, \degree F ( 1649\, \degree C ).

Gas that is released by burning the coke will remove oxygen from the iron ore. This process is happening in the top half of the furnace. At the bottom of the furnace, limestone will react with some impurities in the ore and coke. Together they will form the slag. The molten slag will float on the molten steel and after passing through the special holes the slag will be removed and we will have pure steel.
