Submergent marine plants grow below the water with/without having roots attached to a substrate. Some examples are elodea, hydrilla, and pondweeds. Meanwhile, emergent marine plants have roots underwater, but most parts grow above the water’s surface. Mangroves and water lilies are some examples of this type of plant.
