The refrigerator’s purpose is to transfer heat from a lower temperature interior to a higher temperature surrounding. If the refrigerator is in the room, the interior of the room is also the surrounding of the refrigerator. In other words, refrigerator will try to cool a surrounding by heating also that same surrounding. This will just cancel out and hence it would not be possible for the refrigerator to cool the room to where it is located.
