-Conservation: the recognition that the fundamental properties of an object or a concept can remain the same while being manipulated in shape or form; Example: understanding that a balloon has not lost or gained any air by being manipulated into a balloon sculpture

-Theory of mind: the ability to recognize that different people have different thoughts, perceptions, feelings, etc; example: understanding that if you suddenly pop out from behind a wall suddenly, it may frighten someone who did not know you were going to do that.
