Harry and Sally are on opposite sides of the room at a wedding reception. They simultaneously (in the frame of the room) take flash pictures of the bride and groom cutting the cake in the center of the room. What would an observer moving at constant velocity from Harry to Sally say about the time order of the two flashes?
Solutions
VerifiedBecause the observer is moving at constant velocity from Harry to Sally, the observer is having a positive velocity directed from Harry to Sally. Therefore, the observer would conclude that Sally's flash went on first.
If the observer is moving from a man to a girl and if the man and the girl take a flash picture at the same time, light from the girl will reach observer earlier then light from the boy. If we go to observers frame of reference, same thing is happening, but because the light has the same speed in any frame of reference he would observe that a girl takes a picture earlier then a boy.
