The pancreas is a gland that secretes two hormones that are important in regulating the sugar level in the bloodstream. If the blood sugar level is too high, it releases the hormone insulin to make the cells accept the glucose sugar from the blood. If the blood sugar level is too low, it releases the hormone glucagon to trigger the gluconeogenesis and glycogenolysis that could synthesize glucose sugar.
