The democratic governments of the US and Great Britain grew their political power, Economic resources were directed towards the war effort entirely, factories were ordered to make planes and tanks instead of cars or their usual products. Government programs controlled the amount of what goods consumers bought to save resources, war bond drives were held, and regulation of prices and wages came about. This government control strengthened war production and provided the Allies an advantage against Germany and Japan.
