While the 40's were a lot more monumental when it comes to world affairs, the 30's have this special aura about them that stems from a flurry of artistic activity. Murals such as those painted in schools that were commissioned during the Great Depression became a popular art form all across the world in the following decades. What were before serious and austere spaces now became warm places where people could be reminded of hardships which were ultimately overcome through unity.
For instance, movies began to depict the government officials as heroes and celebrated the triumph of the common man over the forces of adversity. Artistic projects celebrated America - for instance, artists painted murals which celebrated the accomplishments of workers who helped build the nation.
