Let's remember that complement AA or A\overline{A}, is a set of all elements not in set AA. Union of two sets AA and BB, ABA\cup B, represents all the elements found in both sets.

The intersection of sets AA and BB, ABA\cap B, is the set of all the elements common to the sets AA and BB.

The set AA is the subset of the set BB if all elements of the set AA are contained in the set BB. The empty set is the set that has no elements and it is a subset of every set. We denote it with \emptyset.
