Farid thought Amir was like other rich Afghans who fled to America. He noticed Amir was wearing an Afghan hat and a fake beard to look like the native people. Farid misinterpreted Amir as a tourist who came to Afghanistan from America to sell his land. He did not consider Amir as a real Afghan citizen. Later, Amir tells Farid that he came to find a Hazara boy, his half-brother, wanting to take him to Peshawar.
