Methane molecule is trapped in a cage of water molecules in methane hydrate.
a) We can see on the model of methane hydrate that it has 20 vertices (dodecahedron), that represent oxygen atoms bonded with hydrogen bonds, therefore having 20 molecules of water. b) There are 30 hydrogen bonds in the cage. c) Dodecahedron has 12 faces and it can be seen on the model.
