The caste system was a categorization system created by the Aryans that increased in complexity as Indian civilization progressed. The caste system classified people depending on their occupation. For example, the Brahmin class, which included priests, intellectuals, and teachers, was at the top of the caste system, while the Sudra class, which included workers and craftsmen, was at the bottom. Outside members of the system existed, and they were referred to as the untouchables because they worked in duties that no one wanted to perform, such as sweeping and disposing of remains. The caste system's whole mechanism was predicated on a person's social standing.
