Permissive parents are highly responsive to their children’s needs and desires, and they place very few, if any, demands on their children. Keisha’s permissive parents, then, would probably let Keisha stay out past her curfew without any questions (if they even set a curfew in the first place).

Authoritative parents place high demands on their children, but are also responsive to their needs and desires. Jasmine’s authoritative parents might let her stay out past curfew if she has met other obligations (e.g. completing homework/chores) and if she provides a good rationale (e.g. celebrating a friend’s birthday).
