A sensory neuron (input) and a motor neuron (output) are required for reflexes (output) The sensory neuron receives the inputs and sends a signal to the CNS (for example, a pain receptor in the skin). A motor neuron innervates the effector tissue, and this sensory neuron synapses with it (such as skeletal muscle to pull away from the painful stimuli).
