Solution
VerifiedTyrants were brought to power after people in the Greek city-states started to feel like only the rich had any political rights during the period of aristocracy. Mostly poor people then started to look for a better future and leaders who would guarantee them a better life. Those leaders were called tyrants, people who took power in illegal ways, but had support of the people. The rule of most tyrants began pretty well for those that supported them. They were able to crush nobles’ thirst for power and they promoted trade, so their city-states economies prospered. Those tyrants had to be smart and eloquent, in order to make people believe they would make their lives better if they put their trust in them. It later turned out that most of them were ruthless as well. Soon after they gained power, their rule became unjust, and they abused their power for brutality. That made people lose their trust in them, and turn to other forms of governance, such as the people’s government.
