Pavlov's classical conditioning explained learning as a procedure in which we paired a biologically potent stimulus with a previously neutral stimulus. In his research with a dog, a bell was a neutral stimulus that he paired with food, aka a biologically potent stimulus. Humans also can associate objects, smells, and sights with pleasure. For example, uncle can give his nephew his favorite sweet every time he sees him. Induced happiness will occur every time he sees his uncle.
