Biopsychosocial perspective on aging:

-Biological: Aging is connected to the degeneration of the tips of chromosomes, known as telomeres, and the resulting accumulation of replication errors (pg. 559). This biological process can also be slowed through frequent exercise (pg. 561).

-Psychological: Healthy stress-coping mechanisms and positivity are associated with greater longevity (pg. 559).

-Social: Finding intimacy in meaningful relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners is a part of healthy aging across cultures. What these particular relationships look like, however, varies across time and place; people today, for example, are getting married much later than their counterparts a century ago (pg. 566).
