Southeast Asia is located in a very unstable area. The archipelago is vulnerable to earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, typhoons and tsunamis. Borneo is stable and there are no active volcanoes on it. Part of the mainland is more stable because it is protected by mountain ranges.
