How many different emotions do you think there are? Do you, like John B. Watson, belleve in three bask emotions, or do you think there are dozens? Use specific examples to support your viewpoint.
Solution
VerifiedI agree with the idea of Paul Eckman, who identified six basic emotions that are universally experienced in all human cultures. Those are happiness, sadness, disgust, fear, surprise, and anger. His theory does not dismiss the variety of emotional phenomena, rather it attempts to organize them and highlight their similarities. For Eckman, other "more complex" emotions like love or jealousy are really emotional plots that include specific contexts and a mixture of basic emotions. Also, moods have different causes, can last longer and are highly saturated with emotion.
