Solution
VerifiedHenry uses rhetorical questions the most. For example, on page 230 he says, "Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire...?" For the most part, he uses rhetorical questions through the form of parallelism, starting most of his questions with either "will" or shall". The conjunction of both provides an even stronger effect, as it prompts a response that most colonists likely do not have, and begs the question, "Why can nobody answer these questions effectively?" By using questions that are difficult and thought-provoking, he is able to effectively communicate. While being manipulative can also be a critique from others, his questions are very logical and fair--not drawing on imaginary or exaggerated ideas, but rather challenging the everyday inaction of the colonists. This makes it less manipulative and more effective, though controversial.
