The speaker says this poem has "taken in many victims." Think about your own reading habits. What attracts you to certain stories, books, or magazines? How do you become a "victim" of the written word? Share your thoughts with a partner.

Personally, I find myself drowning in the words of fictional stories. I feel like they are a much-needed escape from the real world. While reading fiction, I find myself picturizing the situations from the book and wonder how I'd react in that given time. An escape from reality can be good for one's mind. It can give them a chance to broaden their imagination. But one needs to be careful about how deeply they get into it.
