Question
Two tuning forks oscillate with the same amplitude, but one has twice the frequency. Which (if either) produces the more intense sound?
Solutions
VerifiedSolution A
Solution B
Answered 9 months ago
The higher frequency fork will produce a louder sound since the intensity is proportional to the square root of frequency.
Answered 2 years ago
The intensity of the sound is proportional to the frequency squared and that means that with the same amplitude the fork with higher frequency produces more intense sound.
