There are many characteristics to distinguish the mineral, and some of them are:

• Streak: which is the color of the powder of the mineral, in which streak plate is usually used.
• Luster: which is the ability of the mineral to reflect the light, and it is either metallic luster or non-metallic luster.
• Fracture: which is the shape the mineral when it breaks to conchoidal fracture or irregular surface.
• Hardness: which is the mineral’s ability to resist scratch which can be rated through Mohs hardness scale.
