  • The creator of Python is Guido van Rossum, a Dutch programmer.
  • Python was created in 1989 as "hobby project to keep Van Rossum occupied around Christmas".
  • The BDFL stands for "Benevolent dictator for life", a title first given to Van Rossum as the leader of the Python project. He held the title till 2020 when he stepped down.
