What are petrous ridges?

The space occupied by our brain is called the cranial cavity. The cranial cavity contains cerebrospinal fluid and is coated with meninges (membranes that protect our brain and spinal cord from external damage). The floor of the cranial cavity is separated into three parts: anterior cranial fossa, middle cranial fossa, and posterior cranial fossa.
