Question

What do you think is the most significant latent function schools perform? Consider the advantages and disadvantages.

Solution

Verified

There are a couple of significant latent function that the school performs that are connected. By staying at school, kids from dual – employed families are less on the street so there is less negative influence that can led to delinquency. Even though schools are not intended to be training grounds for athletes, staying at school can help some kids develop their sport talent, which can help them later in life, especially when scholarships are taken into account. In addition, there could be some disadvantages especially when it comes to those kids who need to work more to have good grades at school. In some cases they can be demotivated if they are learning slower then classmates and then they would try to stay away from school which can lead to other life problems including delinquency.
