In my opinion, Augustus' greatest contribution to Rome was the improvement of government. If we go back to earlier civilizations, rebellion often takes place due to the mismanagement of the ruler and his people in government. But Augustus was a great leader. He assigned proconsuls to monitor the Roman provinces. He often visited his territories to find out the problems. And I think this is how a leader should be. Going down to his citizens and not just staring at his palace. In this way, his citizens will trust him more because they see that he cares for them.
