What happens when you walk from the light into a darkened room?
Solutions
VerifiedWhen entering from a lighted room into a dark room, our senses adapt to the new environment or darkness. It takes a few moments to a few minutes.
When we walk from light to a darkened room, at first we are able to see quite little which is eventually corrected after a while. Once we adapt to the new condition of the darkened room, everything seems normal and we are well adjusted.
This happens because our sensory system is adapting to a changing environment and this is called sensory adaptation. Sensory adaptation is becoming more sensitive to a weak stimulus, in our case, we become more sensitive to all the things in the darkroom and reduced sensitivity to an unchanging stimulus that is we become less aware of the darkness which is unchanged.
