The green revolution is an effort that tried to increase crop yields in India with high-yielding varieties of crops. These varieties require carefully managed irrigation, fertilizers and pesticides. It really did increase food production and reduced the hunger in the country. But due to excessive use of chemicals it presents a health risk and a possible pollution source.
