The safest way to perform a turnabout is to position your car at the very right of the road, check everywhere around your car and turn on your left turn signal. Then, make a sharp left and stop before the left curb, again make sure no cars were coming before doing so and do this quickly. Then, check again for traffic and reverse the car turning sharply again and backing out slowly.
Finally, check again for traffic and go into the lane you were turning around to go to.
