What special problems have struck the downtown areas of small cities and towns, and what solutions have been attempted?
Solution
VerifiedNo social issue is isolated to urban or rural areas and is not without universal causes like poverty, hunger, and lack of health care. Crime, gun violence, poor education, and drug abuse are issues all over the US, but where you live can change the factors that contribute to these issues. For example, the smaller towns that developed as a result of urban flight soon ran into problems when funding their public education. They were not wealthy enough to have a private school, and there were not enough families to support a quality education system with property taxes. They have turned to things like school vouchers to help provide limited access to education. They fled the city to escape an issue that followed them to the suburbs when they could have fought to make public education better for everyone, and they would be much better off now.
