Question

What was the Montgomery bus boycott?

Solution

Verified

The Montgomery Bus boycott was an organized effort to fight segregation in Montgomery, Alabama, between December 05th, 1955, and December 20th, 1956. It was a community-led boycott by Black and white supporters of desegregation meant cutting off the business to segregated institutions in the area. For over a year, members of the community went out of their way to not patronize racist public and private institutions. It meant not going to the store near your house or walking miles to work to avoid the bus. A year of daily sacrifices lead to the desegregation of the Montgomery Bus system.
