Question

What were Germany's gains and losses during the early years of the war?

Solution

Verified

In the early years of the war, Hitler was successful in taking over Poland and the majority of France. Hitler also had some success when invading Southeastern Europe with Italy. One of Hitler's first big losses was against the British air force in the Battle of Britain. The Royal air force was able to hold out against the German fighters which meant that Hitler couldn't initiate a land invasion of the United Kingdom. Another loss that Hitler suffered early on was the invasion of the Soviet Union. Hitler underestimated the Soviets and didn't consider how long it would take to travel through the vast country side of the Soviet Union.
