What were the main activities for men, for women, and for children in Athens?
Solutions
VerifiedMen, women, and children all played important roles in Athens' development into the Aegean empire. Men occupied all of the major positions in government and society. They spent the majority of their time in government and very little time at home. As the family's leader, they shoulder the burden of obligation. It is his responsibility to keep them safe.
Men were mostly the ones who brought money to their families. They were mostly farmers, merchants or traders. Some joined either the army or the navy. Women were in charge of raising children, but also of managing household and slaves the family owned. Children were educated from the age of seven. Boys went to elementary school, and were taught manners by their pedagogue. Girls were learning how to do housework, and only the richest families paid formal education for their daughters.
