Solution

Verified

Land was extremely valuable who were eager to stake claim to resources in other territories not yet claimed. This caused a great land competition among the European states. Since most of the land in Europe was under another country's control, States looked across the ocean for land and natural resources. Land was not only a source of wealth, but was also a matter of national pride. Exploration was also a means to spread that particular countries religious beliefs to new and more people. Religious right became a driving force as Indigenous people were often viewed as devil worshipers who needed to be shown the correct path therefore be saved.
