In the figure 6-19 we can notice how the current gain varies significantly with the collector current. When ICI_C goes up, the current gain starts to increase until it reaches a maximum value determined by the temperature. But if the collector continues growing above the value for which hfeh_{fe} is maximum, the current gain starts to decrease with a slope greater than those in the initial growth stage.
