Why did so many Mexican immigrants come to the United States in 1994-1995?

The United States foreign policy had led to multiple civil wars and violence in the ‘90s. Similar to the way the US helped weaponize terrorist organizations in the Middle East, the US government gave weapons to militant groups causing instability in Central America using US imperialism. American fueled civil unrest caused many refugees to flee their countries by way of Mexico to pursue the ‘American Dream.' In Mexico, specifically, a failing economy and accelerated inflation drove many people to America to find better-paying work. This economic collapse also led to the rise of the Drug Cartel as local governments had less money and power than organized crime in the drug trade.
