Why do you think it is forbidden for anyone but a priest to visit the Dead Places? Explain your opinion.
Solution
VerifiedForbidding regular people to go to Dead places ensures that they won't find out about the war that happened before they were born. If more people were to find the remains of the technological age, their urge to study these objects and learn more about the past would grow. I assume that the priests know more about the past times than they share with the people of their tribe. We see this when John shares his findings with his father, the priest. The priest is calm and doesn't seem surprised. He advises his son that it would be better to keep this a secret and that too much truth can destroy a person. I suppose that he thinks the same about acquiring too much knowledge. The ones who wrote the laws that forbid going to the place of gods are probably survivors of the war or their descendants. They decided that keeping people in blissful ignorance and safe is better than letting them improve their knowledge and repeat the mistakes of their ancestors.
