Philip II of Spain wanted to restore Catholicism in England. Because of this idea, in 1588, he launch a fleet to invade the British monarch. Unfortunately, the result was not good. Spain lost to England. To me, his intentions to attack England were good, but he lacked preparation. The fleet and his manpower sent were not what was planned. Their weapons were scarce compared to the quantity England had. British ships were faster compared to Spain. On the whole, it is not surprising that the result of the battle was the defeat of King Philip II because of these shortcomings.
