Vernacular is an everyday language that has often been used in Renaissance literature, to make literary works more accessible to people, and to make it easier for people to understand literature. Francesco Petrarch is an early Renaissance writer who, in addition to Latin, began to use the vernacular, or everyday language of ordinary people. Petrarch influenced other writers with his writing style, and the collection of love poems, Sonnets to Laura, had a particularly great influence.
