Johan Gutenberg's invention made it possible to print books in a fast, easy and less expensive way. In 1456 he printed the first copies of the Christian Bible, which marked the beginning of the European age of printing. The use of Gutenberg's printing press soon spread to the whole of Germany, but also to Italy, the Netherlands, and England.
