Between 1700 B.C. and 1900 B.C., the Minoan civilization was at its peak. The palace at Knossos, which was built during this time held great significance for the Minoan civilization. This palace was the residence of the royal family which was built so grandiosely that it also included workstations for artisans. Knossos palace included shrines which were important locations for religious and ceremonial purposes as they were dedicated to many gods and goddesses of the civilization.
