Three major functions of blood are in transport, regulation and protection. The blood is included in the transport of the red and white blood cells, nutrients, plasma proteins, enzymes, oxygen and carbon dioxide, hormones and waste products. The blood regulates the temperature of our body, pH and balance of fluids and electrolyte. It also has an important role in protection against infection ( white blood cells and antibodies) and against bleeding (clotting factors).
